World Series Highlights

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the first franchise to repeat as World Series champions since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees. They did so in emphatic fashion, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 Saturday night at Dodger Stadium to force a Game 7. If the series goes seven, it will be played next week in Toronto. Here are the best moments from the game and the series.

The euphoria of victory is over, but there’s still work to do. A trio of Globe staff members — the reporter who covers baseball, the columnist with an opinion and the editor who makes sure the other two show up — spent all night at Rogers Centre covering the epic World Series battle between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

TORONTO — Yoshinobu Yamamoto is more than halfway to the goal of a World Series record consecutive complete games. The Dodgers pitcher is working on a fastball count in the mid-90s and hasn’t issued a walk in the three innings he’s pitched. He had an easy time retiring Eenie Clement and Andres Gimenez before the inning’s final out, a fly ball to center by Daulton Varsho.

The Dodgers took a big step toward a second straight championship, extending their lead to 3-1 in the sixth inning of Game 6 with a Will Smith home run and a Miguel Rojas double off Kevin Gausman. But it was the catcher who had arguably the best moment of the night, strolling out to the batter’s box to Michael Bublé’s Feeling Good and lining his RBI double down the left field line.
