Formula 1 Standings

Formula 1 isn’t just car racing – it’s a global spectacle of speed, strategy, and engineering excellence. At the pinnacle of motorsport, teams strive for glory — and coveted sponsorships — through consistent F1 results. Driver standings track individual performances, while constructor standings honor the collective effort of the whole team. Both are crucial to securing a championship, and both have been shaped by pivotal moments in history.

Driver and constructor standings are calculated based on points earned at each Grand Prix and Sprint race, with the top ten finishers earning double points in 2022. Those points are added up and the champion is crowned at the season finale. It’s not uncommon for teams to have a rivalry between their drivers, with some of the most famous fights in F1 history involving team mates. For example, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg’s battle for the 2014 and 2016 titles went down to the last race of each season.

Constructors’ championship has also been decided at the final race on 19 occasions, the most recent occurrence being in 2024 when McLaren beat Ferrari to win their first title since 1998. This is a huge testament to the intense competition between the best teams in the world.
